Adhesives & Grouts
Many tiled areas that suffer problems post fixing, can often be down to initial incorrect product choice. This may have resulted in cracked tiles, or undesireable discolouration/mould on the grout.
When setting out which adhesive and grout is required for your own project, you will need to identify a few key areas. For your adhesive, what is the nature of the substrate I am tiling onto.
Does it require a flexible adhesive, and need it be fast or slow setting. Also is it a porcelain or natural stone tile that is being used?
The Right Product for the Right Surface
If it is a natural stone tile, is it dark or light. The colour of an adhesive can “bleed” through a natural stone tile ( ie pass through ).
So always choose a white adhesive for light coloured tiles, and a grey adhesive for the darker tiles. The “rapid setting” of an adhesive can also reduce the likelihood of any discoloration.
For your grout, do you require a flexible grout? And is it important that the grout is mould and water resistant (a must for any bathroom tiling ).
Correct product choice will result in the best end result.
